Embibo Gender Initiative started as a campaign and grew to a movement. It was officially registered in 2020. Embibo (meaning a seed) is a seed planted by two young women in Kamwenge, Uganda as a response to gender injustices and inequalities to women and girls in rural areas and a testimony from their own stories.
Embibo was born not to help but to create liberation as Lilla Watson describes it:
“If you have come to help, you are wasting your time, but if you have come because your liberation is bound up with mine then let us work together.”
